Dolly-Pop Series of Art Dolls
This is Art Doll – Jessica, she stands about 6 inches tall. Jessica is the first doll of this new Dolly-Pop collection I have been working on. I knit her dress out of a combination acrylic & wool and then added some detailed piping around the bottom of her bloomers and waist. Her shoes are hand painted with a high gloss acrylic paint and then varnished. Jessica’s hands, feet and face are hand sculpted out of polymer clay. She was really fun to make; I may try to do my next one with an acrylic resin for the hair since the body is so soft. It might be nice to see a change of texture.
What a great quote ... on another gorgeously detailed journal page! You continue to amaze me.

The detail and pattern in your art is just amazing!. Have you ever mentioned what kind of pens you use? and if so, would you tell us again?

ReplyDeleteEnjoying this work so much, you work text in so beautiful. I was showing my daugheter your work when she was here the other day, we have been done several days to a wedding and doing much long hours of driving. My daughter was also impressed with your detailed work and we went to back posts and looked, I ran out of time then to post. Glad to be here and see your new work on this fall day in the north.
ReplyDeleteYes!! Yes!!! She's GORGEOUS!! Love that quote! I gotta ask if your gonna leave it black and white, or color it in!! It's so pretty just the way it is too!! Your details are so intricate, I want hair like hers! :)

This page is still in progress? It looks finished and perfect to me, love the black background and the quote!
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing that quote a lot on facebook, I wonder where it comes from. I wonder if you could reverse it and make "a real woman" the subject. I'm always curious about inherently gender normative statements like that, and why is the woman who writes it demanding to be loved in a million ways? That sounds like a lot of pressure.
ReplyDeleteHi, Rebecca
ReplyDeleteOh your detail works are always so astonishing ! How lovely is that quote ! I'm also loving your Suzie Koozies, so very cool ART !
Hi Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteThis piece is fabulous!
So much intricate work and detail has gone into this piece and I lurve the saying!
Happy creating,
Hugs,
Anna
lol. I just asked my man if he loved me a million ways... I won't tell you his reply but it wasn't very romantic!!
ReplyDeleteThe detailing in this piece is incredible. Are you colouring it next? It look amazing in b&w.
Rebecca; This is a great quote! I love your drawing/doodles too! This quote made me think of King Solomon - King of Israel in the Bible. I just read the other day he had 700 wives and 300 concubines!!!! Can you imagine! He must not have been a real man! lol! I talked to my hubby about this and he joked about how he must have had a separate house for his wives because of "that time of the month"! That is such a "Man" thing to say! lol. I love your new journal page! Hope you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteOh my! This is one page...and it's till going? ! Wow. I wish I had your abilities...and patience for detail. Wow. I super LOVE this.
ReplyDeleteI love this quote...and I'm glad that I am married to a 'real man'.....!!!
ReplyDeletegreat drawing...you always make me wanna pick up my pens woman!!!
thanks for that!
ciao bella
