Meet India, she is such a treasure! I made from a tea cup I brought back from India last year. She sits 6 1/2 inches tall. The base she sits on is a beautiful square plate I found in Crate & Barrel that matched the tea cup perfectly. India has been embellished with fabrics I also brought back with me. Her hair is a combination of wool and acrylic fibers and she is jeweled with brass accents. India has henna patterns on the souls of her feet and around the tops of her arms and sits in this peaceful position as she meditates. She's waiting to sit in your home and bring you peace.

I Love All Sorts of Art Supplies

I have just bought all this new yarn that I’ll be using to knit some very tiny dresses with. It’s a combination of wool, acrylic and other fibers. I’m thinking to use the multi-colored wool for the bottom sections of the dresses and then a solid color to match for the tops. I think it will be nice to have a sense of pattern on the skirt area. I’ve really been noticing color combinations lately and making mental notes of them for future embellishments for my dolls. I will be in the studio again working on doll #2 from my dolly-pop series.

Dolly-Pop Series of Art Dolls

This is Art Doll – Jessica, she stands about 6 inches tall. Jessica is the first doll of this new Dolly-Pop collection I have been working on. I knit her dress out of a combination acrylic & wool and then added some detailed piping around the bottom of her bloomers and waist. Her shoes are hand painted with a high gloss acrylic paint and then varnished. Jessica’s hands, feet and face are hand sculpted out of polymer clay. She was really fun to make; I may try to do my next one with an acrylic resin for the hair since the body is so soft. It might be nice to see a change of texture.

This would be a wonderful doll for a child to hold and play with. She is very soft and fit's in the palm of your hand.

Nadia

Meet Nadia, she is an artist who’s been painting for years. She sits 5 ½ inches tall. Nadia has crazy black hair that has a mind of its own. She has found a way to keep it back with a silk scarf when she’s working. Nadia is hand sculpted out of FIMO and her body is made from an upside down Asian tea cup with a small dipping bowl as her base. I also included an acrylic square plate at the bottom for extra surface area that I was able to use for a cushion. The silk fabrics I used for her scarf and cushion are fabrics I brought back from India last year. I just love the vibrant colors of silk with her dark hair. She sits calmly barefoot with her frayed jeans and toenails polished. Nadia is one of my favorites! She is in her own little world. The colors of her are so vibrant and the frayed jeans are just a bonus.
