Sketchbook Project (for 2011) Page 1

This is the first page of my Sketchbook Project 2011. I’m really excited about this opportunity. There is a link on my side column that has all the details but basically when you sign up they send you a sketchbook to fill however you want. They do give you themes to pick from.
My theme is: “Face in the crowd”
I’m doing my own take on that theme by crowding my faces with all sorts of flowers and patterns.
Once you pick your theme and fill your journal you send it back to the Brooklyn Art Library where it will live permanently apart from the tour it will be taking in 2011. Every sketchbook will have a bar code on the back which will enable them to email you every time someone looks through your journal. How cool is that?! Sketchbook Project 2011 will have a tour starting in March 2011 where all the journals submitted for this project will go on tour just like a concert to major cities libraries where people can look through your sketchbook. There are about 40 pages in this little journal so I figure if I do one page a day I may be finished by the end of summer. Hmmmm 1 a day………I think I can handle that!! I have to think of it that way or it’s a little overwhelming.
So here it is page 1 of this Sketchbook Project 2011. The journey begins(O:

  1. You know you're getting old when... I thought I signed up for this project.... then nothing came in the post and I guess I never did! Thanks for the prompt! Actually, I'd rather not put it down to age - it's more the hectic life I lead...

  2. OOO, Rebeccca, I love your daisy faces, and what a great project! It will be so neat to be able to follow your journal, almost like you are traveling along with it. You're inspiring me to try this project also, . . . just not sure I can stick to one theme throughout 40 pages, lol. But, hey, I'll never know if I don't try, right? Will search for the link to sign up now. Happy Day, Rebecca!

Oh my, just saw the link to my blog on the right here! How sweet of you! The award was very well deserved; you are one fabulously talented blogging artist!

Happy Valentines Day!!

Happy Valentines Day!!
These are little Valentines Mice made out of little white stones. I stuck felt hearts on them and then embelished them with bows and eyes. This is a fun Valentines Day craft for my daughter's second grade class!

India

Meet India, she is such a treasure! I made from a tea cup I brought back from India last year. She sits 6 1/2 inches tall. The base she sits on is a beautiful square plate I found in Crate & Barrel that matched the tea cup perfectly. India has been embellished with fabrics I also brought back with me. Her hair is a combination of wool and acrylic fibers and she is jeweled with brass accents. India has henna patterns on the souls of her feet and around the tops of her arms and sits in this peaceful position as she meditates. She's waiting to sit in your home and bring you peace.

Art Doll Mable

Art Doll Mable
Meet Mable, she's trying her best to keep her skin glowing. She believes in nourishing her body from the inside out but once a week a good facial mask and cucumbers on her eyes make all the difference in the world. She stand 8 inches tall and would love to sit on the side of your tub or on your dresser. She could spend hours in the bathroom! * Mable is an original one of a kind decorative Art Doll and not meant to be played with as a toy.
